Brush Dump Information

The Brush Dump is located behind the Sterling Police Department on George Peeso Lane and is open during the Fall for Sterling residents.

Note: Leaves and other yard waste is prohibited from landfills and incinerators in Massachusetts and cannot be disposed of with your household trash.  Residents are encouraged to consider home composting of this material or dispose of yard waste at the brush dump.

2017 Brush Dump Schedule:

Open 8:00 A.M. until noon on the following Saturdays: October 21, October 28, November 4, November 11, and November 18.

Rules for the Brush Dump

  • The use of this site is for Sterling residents only.  Please have proof of residency in order to utilize the site.
  • No yard waste from commercial sources will be accepted.
  • Dumping of material other than yard waste is strictly forbidden.
  • Leaving of yard waste at the gates of the site after hours is considered illegal dumping and is punishable by a fine.
  • Brush/branches must be under 2 inches in diameter.
  • Fence posts and lumber will not be accepted.
  • Biodegradable paper bags are acceptable for disposal. All plastic trash bags must be emptied and removed from the site by the resident.
  • Tree stumps of any kind or size will not be accepted at the site.
  • No poison ivy, oak, sumac or other harmful plants will be accepted.
  • Home composting is encouraged.
