Town Elections

all Elections are held at 32 Boutelle Road, Houghton School gym.

POLLING HOURS are 7am to 8pm.

2018 dates:

  • May 14, 2018 Monday, Annual Town Election
  • Sept 18, 2018 Tuesday,  State Primary (tentative date)
  • Nov 6, 2018  Tuesday State Election (Gubernatorial race)

DEADLINE TO REGISTER to vote or change political party is always 20 calendar days BEFORE a state election and 27 calendar days BEFORE the Town Election.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS are usually available 20 days before an election. An application for a ballot must be completed with the Town Clerk's Office. The deadline to obtain a request is always 12 noon the DAY BEFORE THE ELECTION.  If the election falls on a Monday, the deadline is the previous Friday at 12 noon.   You may vote at the Town Clerk's Office or have the ballot mailed.

EARLY VOTING is here to stay. It will be in effect 14 days prior to a State Election.  As of the new state satute passed in 2014, only the Presidential and the Gubernatorial races accomodate early voting.  Location is determined and voted by the Board of Selectmen.
